zuiderstrand, the hague

from boardwalks buried
in the bed of that steep dune

you step on the beach –

*

sandscapes shift, air-borne,

you’re a visitor here, as

timelessly moving

  *

as sea waves wash off

infinite fictions of earth –

mere specks on a spot in space.

  1. What lovely steps and sand… and a fine sentiment to boot. Yes, we are mere speck-like visitors, just like those polished grains. I particularly like the second person treatment, which draws the reader right onto those steps… could almost feel the sand twixt me toes.

    • Thanks much for you sandy thoughts – I’m sure you know that your Zand surname means sand in Dutch, so this haiku chain is doubly apt and apposite!
